I'm going to say the thing you're not supposed to as a single girl: I LOVE valentines day! I absolutely refuse to force myself to be sad that I don't have a significant other to spend the day with, when I spend the rest of the year grateful that I'm not doing laundry for a grown man. This Valentines I've come to realise that love is not sex, its not morning cuddles and its not romantic dinners. Love comes in so many forms and I have so much love in my life that I'd like to celebrate. As single people I feel we exclude ourselves from this day, why? Come February 14th, I will be celebrating love. I will be treating myself with self love, I will be telling my friends I love them (which will probably make them feel uncomfortable to be honest but too bad) , I'll be appreciating the love of my family. I even have little red hearts painted on my nails for goodness sake! I just love valentines day!!!
So I've had a think and I'm going to give you a guide on what to buy yourself, what to do and how to celebrate this valentines. Self love baby! Because as much as you can love your husband or boyfriend (snore) the most important relationship you'll ever have is with yourself. Allow yourself to indulge!
Lets talk about what to wear, this is still a fashion blog after all.
If you want to dress up and wear something super sexy just for you, why not?! But I personally will be wearing my stripey heart PJs, they're cosy, they have little cute hearts on them and I can't think of a more perfect valentines lockdown look.
Then if I'm heading out this FairFax & Favor baseball cap is the cutest little valentines accessory and also does a great job at coving my horrific lockdown roots.
My own personal valentines plans are meeting up with one of my single friends to celebrate with a bit of bubbly in the park, and judging all the sickening couples. Then I plan on heading home and treating myself to lovely meal and probably a nice horror movie. No one needs yucky romcoms.
Now lets talk about gifts! Buy yourself a nice treat. The advantages of this is you wont have to fake a smile when a man presents you with some tacky heart shaped necklace that doesn't go with any of your other jewellery. You are a strong independent woman and you can buy yourself something you'll actually like.
On the higher end vintage 90s pink Chanel, a real collectors piece and perfect for valentines! My favourite vintage designer provider is Vestiaire Collective, almost all my designer purchases have been through them.
Also on the higher end, but something you'll get a lot of use out of, trust me. The Lelo Sona cruise, it makes having a valentine obsolete, I've written a little more about it here.
Alcohol. Self explanatory.
Dried Flowers. The latest trend in interior design, they can last for years and show you're super on top of your home trends. If you wan't dried flowers that are a little more classic you can also get preserved roses. I've had mine for around 4 years and they've lasted really really well.
Finally why not celebrate with a little colour! I used this pink hair treatment from Lee Stafford to get these perfect pink valentines locks.
